    • Rule with Intention — learn foundational compositional tools to guide the viewer’s eye
      Remove the Extra — practice simplifying the frame and refining your editing choices

    • Artist inspiration and discussion

    Monthly assignment: Photograph a Beginning — first light, first steps, fresh starts, unfolding stories
    Portfolio outcome: 6–10 images built around “starting,” “opening,” or becoming

  • February — Connection

    • Welcome + community check-ins and Photo Sharing
      Name the monthly theme and skill focus

    • Seeing Relationships— work with proximity, gesture, and visual dialogue in the frame
      Editing for Story — learn how sequencing and pairing images creates emotional impact

    • Artist inspiration and discussion

    Monthly assignment: Photograph Connection — between people, elements in nature, objects, light and shadow, self and place
    Portfolio outcome: 6–10 images expressing relationship, intimacy, tension, or belonging

  • March — Shadows & Light

    • Welcome + community check-ins
      Name the monthly theme and skill focus

    • Dancing with Light — explore highlights, shadows, contrast, and mood
      Exposure as Expression — practice intentional under/over-exposure for creative effect

    • Artist inspiration and discussion

    Monthly assignment: Photograph Shadows & Light — silhouettes, pattern, mystery, high contrast scenes
    Portfolio outcome: 6–10 images using light to create atmosphere, drama, or subtlety

  • April — Motion & Macro

    • Welcome + community check-ins and Photo Sharing

    • Motion Studies — experiment with blur, panning, long exposure, and implied movement
      Macro & Close-Looking — slow down and explore worlds within worlds through detail

    • Artist inspiration and discussion

    Monthly assignment: Photograph Motion and the Intimate World — wind, water, urban movement, petals, textures, small subjects up close
    Portfolio outcome: 6–10 images capturing energy, movement, or tiny details.
