THE LANGUAGE OF BEAUTY
About this Series
Language of Beauty
There are moments in nature that stop us in our tracks.
Across the globe, people have created words for these fleeting experiences—words that capture not only what we see, but also what we hear, smell, feel, and remember. Some are ancient, passed down through generations. Others are rooted in the landscapes and cultures from which they emerged. Together, they remind us that language has the power to deepen our relationship with the natural world.
As a photographer and lifelong student of nature, I've become fascinated by these words. They have taught me to slow down, pay closer attention, and notice beauty that might otherwise pass me by. A single word can awaken a forgotten memory, give shape to a feeling that once seemed beyond language, or invite me to experience a familiar landscape with fresh eyes.
Sometimes, finding the right word helps us see the world—and ourselves—with greater wonder.
