People often ask me, "Why do you love Iceland so much?" It's a difficult question to answer because so much of what I feel there exists beyond words. Perhaps these photographs will tell the story even better than I can.

I love the rawness of Iceland.

There is an honesty to the landscape that I find deeply moving—the rough lava fields softened by moss, the places where glaciers meet the earth, the relentless wind, and the wild edges where land surrenders to the sea. Iceland doesn't ask to be polished or perfected. It simply is. There is beauty in its strength, its vulnerability, and its constant state of becoming.

I love the silence.

Once you leave the city behind, the world becomes wonderfully quiet. The horizon stretches for miles, uninterrupted by skyscrapers or billboards. Instead, mountains, waterfalls, glaciers, and open sky become the architecture of the land. The silence isn't empty—it is full of presence. It reminds me to slow down, to breathe more deeply, and to notice.

I love the colors.

The brilliant blue of a summer sky. The luminous aqua of glacial lagoons. Endless carpets of emerald moss. Fields of purple lupine and yellow buttercups lining the roads. The rusty orange coats of Icelandic horses. Black sand beaches, white winter snow, and the soft steam rising from geothermal pools. Every season offers its own palette, and every visit reveals a different Iceland.

I also love Iceland's deep connection to folklore and the hidden people.

Some Icelanders believe in elves and trolls, while others simply say they don't know if they're real—but they also don't dismiss the possibility. I find that openness both charming and beautiful. There is something about this landscape that feels undeniably alive. It's easy to believe that fairies, elves, and trolls might have found a perfect home here. Whether they exist or not almost doesn't matter. The stories encourage us to see the land as something sacred, mysterious, and deserving of our respect.

I love the culture of soaking.

There is something wonderfully simple and restorative about ending a day immersed in warm geothermal water. Whether it's a small neighborhood pool or a geothermal lagoon surrounded by mountains, soaking feels less like an indulgence and more like a way of life—a daily ritual of wellness, conversation, and connection.

I love how safe I feel here.

There is an ease that comes with traveling through Iceland. I can sleep with the windows open, wander alone with my camera, and explore quiet places without fear. There are no dangerous wild animals to watch for, and the country's thoughtful approach to safety creates a sense of peace that allows me to be fully present.

And then... there are the puffins.

Every summer these charismatic little seabirds return to their cliffs, clumsily landing, carrying beaks full of fish, and tending to their young. They never fail to make me smile.

These are only a few of the reasons I love Iceland.
